Pampers Swaddlers is the best diaper in the market for babies under
4 months old. It is ideal for newborns and smaller babies because it has
stretchy tabs as well as great sponge factor. We have tried
several diapers specially designed for newborns and very young
babies and none of them can be as good and soft as swaddlers. Babies can wet their diaper as many times as they want and it still holds
wetness professionally underneath the inner layer thus not letting liquid touch baby's bottom and cause diaper rash.
Normally babies under 3 or 4 months old wet their diapers more
often and especially during the night, you may not notice if
your baby is sleeping through the night. (If you are one of
those lucky ones). In this case the diaper need to be able to
absorb as much wetness as possible and not leak or even leave
the skin exposed to constant moisture.

Like we mentioned earlier, this sometimes can be a cause for
diaper rash. Swaddlers scores well in this category because it
has excellent sponge factor.
Small babies usually require from you to change their diapers often because
this is the only new issue that they can strongly express their satisfaction
or discontent. Sometimes this happens after every single pee,
however small it may be. Initially we were frustrated that this highly absorbing
and almost new diaper had to be thrown away with just one barely
noticeable pee. But later we saw other benefits. For babies who
are consuming only breast milk, the urine may tend to be like odor-free water.
In this scenario, if your newborn is crying and you don't
exactly know why, (in most cases anyway !), you might naturally
try changing the diaper. But later if you find out the reason
was hunger, its too late because you just stumbled over to the
crib with eyes half open and did the exercise of diaper
changing, and its half past 3 in the morning. Well, with
swaddlers, when you reach the crib and find the diaper still
remaining almost new, you actually might have an opportunity to
consider other reasons that could have caused the crying.
Swaddlers is also very soft and gentle. It almost
gives a cloth like diaper feeling. It is big for it size and has wide front and side tabs swaddling
the baby all around.
The sticky clips do not contain sharp edges and are shaped like
a cone, so in case it touches your baby's body it does not
scratch it. This is another important thing to consider, since
babies skin at this early stage is very tender and are prone to
scratches even by objects that we adults consider not rough or
sharp. If you care about diaper's looks swaddlers scores well in this category as well. It is decorated with lovely sesame street characters and also has a friendly reminder to put baby to sleep on the back to prevent SIDS.
However trivial it may seem, such simple reminders are sometimes
necessary for the over-worked mom and it doesn't hurt to get
such advices handy. From our personal experience, we simply fell in love with swaddlers
compared to other diapers available for this stage. At
that time, when we haven't explored other diapers, we even wished they would produce not only sizes 1 and 2 but
also higher sizes.
Considering the cost factor, swaddlers by itself is not a cheap
diaper. It is a brand name diaper and a premium price always
goes along without saying. On the other hand, we noticed there
seem to be an abundance in coupons from several baby magazines
for swaddlers. This maybe because of targeted marketing campaign
by companies and they probably know we have a newborn since we
registered on their site, but the bottom-line is you can
save by using those coupons. In most cases these coupons are
"$2.00-$2.50 off" on any size pack , so you might only pay $6
something instead of $9.00. Over the months this could be mean
significant savings, for a good quality brand name diaper. You can
also buy a big box of 1-2 sizes, sort of in the middle between 1
and 2 making it perfect for babies who outgrow 1 but are still
too tiny for size 2.
