Huggies Supreme diaper is nicely decorated with Disney cartoon
characters and feels soft and nice. This is probably the best
looking diaper in the market. It has a wonderful thickness in
front but is thin at the back. Especially for babies 6 months
and above (sizes 3,4 etc.) thicker back layer would serve as a
cushion in their numerous falls on their bottoms. More cushion
means less pain during the drop! Even though there is a theory
that goes- thinner diaper makes baby walk easier- we don't
really buy into that. Babies will eventually learn to walk
correctly, while they do that, dropping on their bottoms could
be made less painful by just adding some extra layers for a
cushioning effect. (Tip: At this stage of learning to walk,
allow your babies to walk at home for about 10 minutes or so
without a diaper every day. They love it! But be sure to watch
them so they don’t wet your carpet just when you are about to
run to check your kitchen stove.)
The picture on the left shows the best
feature of the Huggies Supreme: Stretchy waist line. This is critical for
additional comfort for a moving baby. Also this diaper is very soft and nice.

At night if your baby sleeps through the night already (most
babies do after 5 months of age) chances are they will wet the
diaper a few times! (We love them!) So the diaper need to be
designed to protect from leakages well and spongy enough to
absorb all the liquid and still remain dry at the surface.
Huggies supreme did not perform well in this category. You have
grains coming out of the inner layers of the diaper and getting
into the seams of babies body! This is could be very
uncomfortable for the baby. Imagine beach sand in your underwear
throughout the night! Exactly, that's what we are talking about.
And you wonder why the baby who normally is fine is cranky now.
Usually when your baby is cranky you check for hunger,
temperature, diaper etc. But sometimes it is hard to pinpoint
the problem if it is related to something like the grains
leaking through the diaper's surface and pinching the baby. That
is one of the reasons we decided to test diapers and give you a
clue up front which brand, and type would be the suitable for
your baby based on the various testing categories. We did not
have such problem with Pampers cruisers. But keep in mind that
our test sample of Huggies supreme diapers that we bought in
Wal-Mart could have been that "one" bad batch. That's why be
sure to buy a small pack initially and test it before buying a
jumbo pack. Because of the above reason Supreme has scored low
in the Sponge Factor category and hence the low overall score.

Almost all Huggies diapers are quite small for their
sizes compared to other diapers like pampers, white cloud or dry
bottoms. In other words from our observation, a size 3 supreme
typically seems smaller than a size 3 baby dry or white cloud.
Also, they do not have wide front tabs and the back tabs are
smaller than Pampers and White Cloud diapers. Thus if you need
size three diaper I suggest buying size four for better leakage
protection effect.
Overall
Huggies Supreme is a decent diaper. It is nice to look at (not
that it matters to the baby), soft, well hugging, has a sound
protection from leakages but has a bad Sponge Factor. The sticky
clips for fastening the diaper are shaped nicely, and they are
small and do not contain sharp edges or corners. When you put
the diaper on, the clips fasten well in the center and do not
brush against your baby's body.
One excellent
component of Huggies Supreme is the stretchy waistline. It not
only has stretchy waistline but also stretchy side tabs. This
allows you to fasten diaper well while your baby still feels
comfortable while squatting and sitting. Like we have mentioned
everywhere stretchiness is the key for babies on the move! For
the baby who is little and doesn't move around much, the grains
in this diaper might not be that noticeable. This however might
be a problem for the bigger babies whose movements might cause
these grains to come out through the surface layer. If you do
not experience the grain problem, then this diaper is a good
choice since it is very cushy in the front and has a stretchy
waistline. On the other hand if you do have the grain problem,
then make your own judgment before considering this diaper. We
decided not to buy it for our daughter who is a very active 10
months old adventurer since constantly grains are all over her
bottom after she wears this diaper.
