Finally ! After nine long months of expectation, and anxiety, after these last eight "never-ending" weeks of pregnancy, when your little one decides that his "house" is too small and starts kicking your guts out to make some room, and after the hard and painful labor, finally the two of you can relax and enjoy each other. Well, the relaxation time for a mom is only while in hospital, as you know, then, the marathon of changing diapers and the constant rocking at nights begin. Lets look at the most important issue of your baby's life: Diapers. Whether you realize or not, this really is a crucial component for your baby. Well imagine, some uncomfortable thing sticking on your bottom and it gets wet, sometimes with pee, sometimes with poo and you cant change yourself, and you cant even say out loud what exactly you would like them to do. You get the point, right? Now when dealing with such important thing like this, you don't want some low quality, poor and possibly harmful or unsuitable product. There are several choices and you need to choose the right one. We are here to help you.

What kinds are out there in the market? What are the differences among them? What are the things you need to consider in order to make your baby's first days in this world as comfortable and painless as possible? How could you spend less on premium quality diapers and save these few extra dollars for a new bottle or a pacifier? We are going to discuss all those in our review pages. Please note in some articles we mention "he", and in some "she". We love them both equally!

When a baby comes into this world he has three basic needs that are of utmost importance: Rest, Full stomach and Dry diaper. A newborn baby sleeps approximately 15 to 20 hours a day but even while sleeping he pees and poops every one to two hours, thus it is advisable to change diaper every two to three hours. Most of the parents of a little newcomer know it differently: every pee means a change of diaper or a loud cry may continue to vibrate through the walls of the house. However tiresome and expensive it might seem, such diaper changing marathon has a positive side to it. Baby's skin is extremely sensitive and open to the environment and if left unattended it can harm overall health of the baby. Thus, everyone there who is buying a second mega pack in two weeks: hang in there, it is all for your child's health and comfort.

Speaking about comfort, there are some guidelines for buying diapers for your newborn. The most important qualities that a diaper should have at this stage in your baby's life are: Quick and Extreme absorbency, free of lotions and perfumes, and air-friendly surface.

The absorbency level of the diaper in this website will be called a Sponge Factor. Out team came up with this name to best describe the quickness and quality of absorption of liquid in two simple words. Sponge factor varies among diaper brands because of the super absorbent materials used in making diapers that becomes gel while in contact with liquid and trap liquid so that it doesn't reach baby's body. Please pay attention to the Sponge Factor in our diaper reviews. It is a very important way to determine how absorbent a diaper can be. It is critical because for your newborn and even older babies because they often hate lying in their pee. Furthermore, their skin will develop diaper rash if exposed to urine for a longer time.

Free of lotions and sometimes called hypo-allergenic diapers make sure that even most sensitive babies do not develop any skin allergies. They do not use perfume in their diapers. Other manufacturers use some scent in order to make the diaper not smell too bad. Sometimes a perfume-like smelling pee of your newborn, during a diaper change might seem tempting, but you need to make sure your baby is not allergic, before using these diapers. Also, for the baby to always sink in a "lotion bath" might be bothersome since some newborns are highly sensitive to even slight smells. Besides, for many moms their baby's pee and poo do not smell that repelling, especially if babies are breast fed.

Air-friendly surface defines the quality of material with respect to letting the air circulate through the diapers surface from the environment to your baby's body. High air-friendliness level means dryer baby's skin and less diaper rash.

We take these above two factors and integrate them in our "Comfort" and "Durability" rating categories.

We have a special rating category called "Safety". You might wonder how a diaper can hurt a baby. Studies show that it is possible. We have seen it for ourselves. Sometimes the side tabs on a diaper can be sharp and it could scratch the baby's skin and leave a blood mark. You really don't want that. Imagine sometimes when we handle fresh paper on a printer, if handled wrongly or accidentally it could cut your palm or in between two fingers and you have this burning sensation during shower the next day.. well you don't want that for your baby. We examine every diaper carefully and analyze if there are any such possibilities before rating in this category.

Following is a table that shows the several rating categories and the possible values for each one of them.

We also have an "Availability" Category that explains how widely a diaper is available in the market. In other words, how easy it is to find that specific diaper. Do online stores sell them? Are they available in most super markets and grocery stores? Or are they sold only in one grocery store? Sometimes it is very convenient to have a diaper as widely available as possible, since you never know when you will run out of diapers and what kind of weather you will be facing outside when your venture out for your prey!

Finally the cost factor. We research several options including retails outlets and online stores and special deals and coupons. We come up with an average price for a specific diaper based on our extensive and through analysis. This category has possible ratings of high, medium and low.

If you had a preemie you will need special diapers designed for their immature bodies. They need extra care and attention because premature babies' skin is soft, thin and fragile so it is extremely important that their diapers would be of a softest material possible. Such diapers would be also air-friendly and well absorbing. Cloth diaper advocates might talk about the benefits on using a cloth diaper since it is free of chemicals and perfumes and we are currently working on a separate article to give consumers the advantages and disadvantages on both kinds.
